Making a Conscious Choice To Be Happy
It is another snowy, gray day is Pittsburgh Pa. I was out at the post office this morning mailing out some books, and I was listening to a few people that were standing in line complain about the weather. For a second I was ready to pile on and start complaining too. However, instead of complaining I decided to choose gratitude and appreciation. I started to list to myself all of the things that I was appreciative of. Some of the things included;
- I don’t have to be outside in the cold for long periods of time.
- My house is warm and cozy.
- I have warm clothes.
- We have enough to eat.
- I get to do a job that I love.
- I was at the post office because several more people bought my book.
On and on the list went. What a difference choosing to be positive made in my day. Instead of leaving the post office thinking about miserable things I was able to be happy and joyful remembering that I do indeed get to choose how I want to feel and what I want to think about.
